Inkreel Gallery Contest: Official Rules
No cash prizes. Void where prohibited. By entering, you agree to these Official Rules and to the Sponsor's decisions, which are final.
1. Sponsor
The Contest is run by Blackbox Entertainment LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("Sponsor"), which operates Inkreel at inkreel.app. Contact: contact@inkreel.app.
2. Who can enter
- You must be a legal resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
- You must have an Inkreel account in good standing with a verified email address.
- To win a prize you must be on a paid Inkreel plan on the day the Contest Period closes and on the day the prize is awarded. Trial accounts may enter and vote but cannot win.
- One account per person. Entering or voting through more than one account is not allowed.
- Not eligible to win: the Sponsor, its owners, employees, contractors and platform administrators, anyone living in the same household as one of them, and any workspace they control. Their videos may appear in the Gallery and are marked as not competing.
- The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
3. Contest Period
- The Contest runs in rounds. A round typically lasts one month. The start and end date and time of each round are shown on the contest page before the round opens, in Arizona time (UTC-7) ("Contest Period").
- Only videos published to the Gallery while a round is open are entries in that round. A video published before a round opens, or after it closes, is not an entry.
- The Sponsor's clock is the official clock.
- The Contest runs only while the Sponsor has it switched on. The contest page at inkreel.app shows whether a round is open and when it closes. The Sponsor may pause or end the Contest at any time under section 16.
4. How to enter
- Make a video with Inkreel and finish it.
- Share it to the Gallery, give it a title, pick one category, and confirm that you hold the rights to everything in it and that it follows Inkreel's Content Rules.
- A finished video shared to the Gallery during a Contest Period is an entry ("Entry") in that round, in the category you chose. Stills and single clips shared to the Gallery are not Entries.
- There is no separate entry fee. No purchase beyond an eligible plan improves your chance of winning.
- Each video can be entered once, in one category, in one round. You may enter more than one video.
- You can remove your video from the Gallery at any time. Removing it withdraws the Entry.
5. What an Entry must be
Every Entry must:
- Be made by you, using Inkreel, as a finished video.
- Follow Inkreel's Terms of Service and Content Rules.
- Not show a real person's likeness or voice without that person's written permission.
- Not use copyrighted characters, music, footage, logos or brands that you do not have the right to use. Music must be yours or properly licensed to you.
- Not contain sexual content, content sexualizing anyone who is or appears to be a minor, hateful content, or content that promotes violence or illegal acts.
- Not have won a previous round of this Contest.
Entries are AI-generated and are labelled as AI-made in the file's metadata and on the Gallery page. The Sponsor may refuse or remove any Entry that it reasonably believes breaks these rules.
6. Categories
The categories for each round are listed on the contest page. At launch they are: Music video, Short film and Trailer. The Sponsor may add, remove or rename categories for future rounds, and may move an Entry to the category it fits best.
A category has a winner in a round only if it has at least 5 eligible Entries from at least 5 different accounts. Otherwise that category has no winner for that round and no prize is awarded for it.
7. How winners are chosen
This is a contest of skill. Winners are chosen on merit, not by chance. One winner is chosen per category per round.
Judging criteria, weighted equally:
- Story and idea: is it clear, original and worth watching?
- Consistency: do characters, places and style stay the same from shot to shot?
- Craft: pacing, editing, sound and how well picture and sound fit together.
- Overall impact.
Sponsor's Pick rounds. While community voting is switched off, the Sponsor's judges score every eligible Entry against the criteria above. The highest-scoring Entry in each category wins.
Community Vote rounds. While community voting is switched on, the contest page says so before the round opens. Eligible voters give Entries a thumbs up during the Contest Period (section 8). After the round closes, the Sponsor reviews the most-voted Entries in each category for eligibility and vote validity, and confirms the winner against the judging criteria. The Sponsor's confirmation is final.
Ties. A tie is broken by the Sponsor's judges using the judging criteria.
A workspace can win at most one prize per round. If it would win in two categories, it wins the one where it placed higher, and the next eligible Entry wins the other.
8. Voting rules
- To vote you need an Inkreel account with a verified email address. Trial accounts may vote.
- One vote per account per Entry. You may vote for as many different Entries as you like, and you may withdraw a vote before the round closes.
- You may not vote for your own Entry or for an Entry from your own workspace.
- Not allowed: paying or rewarding people for votes, trading votes, voting through more than one account, using bots, scripts or any automated means, or creating accounts in order to vote.
- The Sponsor may discard votes it reasonably believes break these rules and may disqualify the Entry they were cast for.
- Vote counts shown on the site are provisional until the Sponsor confirms the winners.
9. Prizes
- Each winner on the Bring your own key plan receives one free month of that plan. Stated value: $19.
- Each winner on a plan with credits included receives a credit pack worth $19 (1,900 Inkreel credits) added to the winning workspace. Stated value: $19.
- Each winner's Entry is featured on the Inkreel landing page until the next round's winners are confirmed, and carries a winner badge in the Gallery.
- Up to 3 prizes are awarded per round, one per category. Total stated value per round: up to $57.
- Prize credits follow the same rules as purchased credit packs, including expiry 12 months after they are added. They can be used only inside Inkreel.
- Prizes have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for cash, refunded, sold or transferred to another account. No substitutions except by the Sponsor, which may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
- Any taxes on a prize are the winner's responsibility.
10. Telling the winners
- The Sponsor confirms winners within 14 days after a round closes and emails each winner at the address on their account.
- The prize is added to the winner's account when the Sponsor confirms it. The winner does not need to do anything to claim it.
- If a winner's account is closed, not in good standing or no longer on an eligible plan when the prize is awarded, the prize is forfeited and the Sponsor may award it to the next eligible Entry.
- Winners' display names, Entry titles and categories are listed on the contest page.
11. Reports, takedowns and disqualification
- Anyone can report a Gallery video. The Sponsor reviews each report and decides whether the video stays or is taken down.
- A video that is taken down leaves the Gallery and the Contest immediately and loses its votes for that round. The maker is emailed the reason. The video itself stays in the maker's account.
- The Sponsor may disqualify any Entry or person that breaks these rules, tampers with entry or voting, or acts in a way meant to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass anyone.
- If a winning Entry is later found to have broken these rules, the Sponsor may remove the feature and badge, cancel any unused prize credits, and award the prize to the next eligible Entry.
12. Your rights in your Entry
- You keep whatever rights you have in your Entry under the Inkreel Terms of Service. Entering does not transfer ownership to the Sponsor.
- By sharing to the Gallery you give the Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display and play your Entry in the Gallery and on the contest page for as long as it is published there.
- If your Entry wins, you also give the Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to show the Entry, clips and still images from it, its title and your display name on the Inkreel website and in Inkreel's social media and marketing, for 24 months after the win, with credit to your display name. You can ask the Sponsor to stop new uses by emailing contact@inkreel.app.
- You confirm that you have every right and permission needed to enter the Entry and to grant these licences, and that the Entry does not infringe anyone's rights.
13. Publicity
Except where prohibited by law, by accepting a prize a winner allows the Sponsor to use the winner's display name and the winning Entry's title to announce the result, without further payment. The Sponsor will not publish a winner's real name, email address or location without the winner's consent.
14. Privacy
The Sponsor uses the information in your account and your votes to run the Contest, check eligibility, detect rule-breaking, award prizes and announce winners. It is handled under the Inkreel Privacy Policy at inkreel.app/legal/privacy. Votes are recorded with the voting account and time; individual votes are not shown publicly.
15. Limits on the Sponsor's responsibility
- The Sponsor is not responsible for Entries or votes that are lost, late, incomplete or not recorded because of technical problems, outages, errors in the site, or anything outside its reasonable control.
- The Sponsor does not promise that the Gallery or the Contest will be available at any particular time.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, by taking part you release the Sponsor and its owners, members, managers, employees and contractors from any claim, loss or damage arising from your taking part in the Contest or from accepting, using or being unable to use a prize. The Contest and the prizes are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind.
- You are responsible for your Entry. If someone makes a claim against the Sponsor because your Entry infringes their rights or breaks these rules, you agree to indemnify the Sponsor for the losses, costs and reasonable legal fees that result.
16. Changes, pausing and ending the Contest
- The Sponsor may change these rules for future rounds. The current rules and their "last updated" date are always on the contest page. Changes do not apply to a round that has already opened, unless needed to fix an error or comply with the law.
- The Sponsor may pause or end the Contest at any time. If the Contest is switched off during a round, that round ends with no winners and no prizes are awarded for it. Prizes already awarded are not affected.
- If fraud, technical failure or anything else undermines the fairness of a round, the Sponsor may cancel that round or choose winners from the eligible Entries received before the problem.
17. Governing law and disputes
These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the Contest that cannot be settled by contacting the Sponsor will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you agree to their jurisdiction. Each party bears its own costs unless a court orders otherwise.
18. Other terms
- If any part of these rules is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If these rules conflict with the Inkreel Terms of Service on a matter about the Contest, these rules apply to that matter.
- This Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any social media platform, payment processor or AI model provider.
19. Winners list and contact
Winners are listed on the contest page at inkreel.app. For a copy of the winners list for any round, or with any question about these rules, email contact@inkreel.app.
